Instruction to install bushing mr2 control arm
Low friction bronze bearing retrofit kit for Energy suspension and Prothane bushing kits. Eliminates the high roational friction and squeaks associated with poly bushings. Kit includes steel sleeves, SAE bearings and grease fitting for all 22 bushing locations, as well as stainless steel load spreading washers for the camber bolt locations.
As of July 19' all steel sleeves are black oxide coated for corrosion resistance and increased lubricity! Spherical bearing sleeve kit for the RUCA-O location, which is a particularly troublesome location on the miata. Includes 2 sleeves, 2 snap rings, 4 spacers, 4 seals, and a tube of retaining compound. Requires 2, AIBT spherical bearings. Offset delrin bushings installed in the front location of the FLCA, for increased camber. Includes 2 bushings, 2 steel sleeves, 2 grease fittings and 2 extra locking screws.
We can make just about any combiniation of bushings you'd like, and offset just about any location for your needs, we also offer some locations for V8R arms.
Please contact us for custom bushings. Delrin diff bushings, available as just upper "tophat bushings" or uppers and lowers. Going to be replacing all the bushings with the TRD bushing set, while I have my suspension apart.
Things may be a little different if you are not replacing everything like I am though. The steering knuckle will be close to being removed, as it will still be attached to the tie rod end.
If you have a deep well 22mm socket, you can use a ratchet. Else, a 22mm wrench will work. If you do not want to replace the strut top, or have the Fensport bushing set which does not include a new strut top then you do not need to remove the strut assembly. You should then be able to remove the strut bar. And disassembled. The 2 bushings green arrows are to be replaced by TRD ones.
And the collar red arrow needs to be replaced with a new one from the dealer. Unless you have a vice handy. I placed a jack under the control arm to raise it up and then use a 2 or 3 jaw puller to pop it out. Beware, the ball joint will literally POP up once it is loose. So keep away from inside the fenderwell while you tighten the puller. The below picture was taken before I actually got the ball joint off. It was surprisingly easy, just have the cheater bar handy.
Notice the tapered end, you will need to press that end in first. Silicone grease would probably work better. Make sure everything is going in straight. It may help to have an extra pair of hands to help hold and turn the vise handle.
