The upgrade eventually went smoothly enough after re-installing XP [SP3] and downloading all the required drivers. But everytime I turn the pc on or do a re-start I get a double bleep followed by the black screen asking me to strike on either F1 or F2.

Might this also be a jumper issue? The F1 screen says: "Primary drive '0' [zero] not found" and "Primary Master Drive - Unknown Device" yet Device Manager says the drive is working normally and there are no question marks against any appliances.

It means I have to strike F1 every time I boot up. Can anybody help please? Monday, August 23, PM. You may have your SATA cable plugged into the wrong port on the motherboard.

If you look at your motherboard where the SATA ports are, you will see the Ports are number - usually 0,1,2 etc You want to plug your primary HDD into the lowest number. It sounds like the boot order is wrong in the system's BIOS and it's still looking for the old hard drive to boot from.

Also make sure that no entries still exist anywhere in the BIOS for the old drive. Tuesday, August 24, PM.
